Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming public policy by enhancing decision-making, improving service delivery, and enabling evidence-based governance. Governments across the world increasingly employ AI for healthcare, education, taxation, law enforcement, disaster management, and social welfare administration. While AI offers significant opportunities for efficiency, predictive analytics, and citizen-centric governance, it also presents serious risks, including algorithmic bias, privacy violations, surveillance, cybersecurity threats, misinformation, and unequal access to digital technologies. These challenges raise critical concerns regarding transparency, accountability, democratic participation, and the protection of fundamental rights. The intersection of AI and public policy by analyzing its opportunities, risks, and implications for democratic governance. It further explores emerging regulatory frameworks, ethical principles, and international initiatives aimed at ensuring responsible AI development and deployment. The study argues that democratic societies must adopt inclusive, transparent, and human-centered AI governance models that balance technological innovation with ethical responsibility, legal safeguards, and public trust to promote sustainable and equitable development.
