Abstract:

Language basically refers to the carrier of verbal sound-based expression. The word ‘verbal sound-based’ is used because in the present day, many words like ‘body language’, ‘language of the mind’, ‘language of the eyes’ have become popular. But these are not languages in the true sense. Because language has to be based on the speech apparatus. Needless to say, that speech apparatus is definitely human. Because, grammar does not discuss the language of any other living being except the language of humans. We are Bengalis by ethnic identity. Because, Bengali is our mother tongue. According to our conventional concept, mother tongue is the language learned from the mouth of the mother. But modern linguistics has established that the first language a child learns to speak after birth is his mother tongue. However, we were born in Bengali land and learned Bengali first—that's why we are Bengalis.
