Abstract:

In his magnum-opus “Gitanjali’’, the famous poet Rabindranath Tagore upholds the philosophical theory of life and Bhagavad-consciousness. The thread of Vaishnavite movement, the influence of Padabali-Poets, the touch of Srimad Bhagavad Gita and Poet’s self-realization have turned the Gitanjali— a collection of flowery songs offering internal veneration to Lord. To achieve the apex of spirituality the poet emphasizes upon pure platonic love. In this song Tagore says that the poetic utmost love and deep-delved devotion have completed God to descend from Paradise to mundane world. The poet has realized the jouissance of Divine Bliss. In this song, the poet has asserted the elegance of “Prem-Bhakti’’. The poet has imagined himself as the beloved-devotee and the God as her Divine-lover. The poet is glad as God loves her deeply. To express the importance of her (the poet) as devoted devotee, the poet claims that without her presence His divine graciousness and majestic glory would not circulate throughout the universe. Though he is infinitesimal but she is loved by God; Her devotion, serving and adoration pleases Him. The omnipotent Lord’s enormous plans are executed through the devotees’ self. To establish the pious flag of “Dharma,” the God incarnates himself in various Avatars. Ultimately, the poet opines that the consummation of love will be fulfilled in mingling the soul and the supremo. The poet has glorified the greatness of ‘Bhagavad-prem.’ This poem reminds us the frenzied love and cosmic adoration of Sri Radha, the queen of Brindavan. This Research paper aims to study Gitanjali 56 “Thus it is that thy joy in me is so full” from the spiritual perspective.
