Abstract:
Kannada fiction writer U. R. Ananthamurthy's (1932-2014) 'A number of works have dealt with themes such as patriarchy, Brahmanism, gender inequality, etc.
Brahmanism, patriarchy and gender discrimination co-exist in Indian society. Brahmanism started in India. With the evolution of the country-time-society, the system of chaturashram has also disappeared. But even in modern times, Brahmanical domination has prevailed in Indian society. Apart from Brahminical domination, patriarchy is also a feature of Indian society. Patriarchy is male domination that seeks to control women at all times. "According to Sylvia Walby in her book" "Theoriesong Patriarchy" "(1990), patriarchy is" "a system of social structures and practices in which men control, oppress, and exploit women." "" "2 Sociologist Gerda Lerner in her book" "The Creation of Patriarchy" "(1986) says," "The biocontrolist conclusion that men are inherently superior to women under patriarchy has remained the same from the Stone Age to the present day." "" 3 Engels believed that women's subjection arose from the idea of private property. In his book 'The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State' (1884), he said, 'The day motherhood is defeated, that day in the history of the world, women are defeated. The authority of the house and the hands of men go, the dignity of women is undermined. ' 4 Indian society is also not beyond this theoretical boundary. Therefore, this problem can also be seen in Indian literature.
